All resources are executed by the oil palm community and the Indonesian government to counter the black campaign of palm oil products in the European Union. From courteous diplomacy to hard protests continue to be launched, to ensure the black campaign does not further damage oil palm industry.Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (Gapki) Joko Supriyono explained that Indonesia has sent a protest note to Iceland Co. The protest note was submitted by the Council of Palm Oil Producer Countries (CPOPC). If necessary, Indonesia can hold a meeting to discuss the issue. \`The Indonesian government also needs to communicate with Iceland,\` said Joko.There are several erroneous assumptions from Iceland against oil palm plantations, especially in Indonesia. Joko said the reason Iceland Co. forbids palm products one of them because it deemed to cause deforestation. While the fact is, Joko argued, that if oil palm is prohibited, deforestation may 10-fold increased.Currently there are various palm certification bodies functioned to show that palm production in Indonesia is in accordance with the principle of sustainability. Joko also believes that the existing certifi cates are dependent on markets such as the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and there is a mandatory certificate of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification.Joko said until now the ISPO may not be valid in the global market yet, but it is going to be useful. ***
